Brief
A private client was looking to hold a special event for his wife’s 50th birthday, however he wanted it to be very upmarket and different to the norm.
The event had to be based “on the best of the best” yet with simple but excellent cuisine, and guests made to feel very special.
Our Response
As the client didn’t want the “normal marquee usually used for weddings”, we supplied a tipi company who constructed 3 giant “hats” within the client’s garden. The tipis were really high quality, pretty fairy lighting strung around the poles and even a log burner in the centre to keep the chill off as the evening turned a little cooler as well as large fan heaters.
As the guests arrived, they were greeted by an elegant walkabout act with statuesque stilt walking and beautiful cirque style costuming which made a wonderful entrance and a “wow” start to the evening.
Moving into the centre of the garden, with pathways lit by bamboo torches, the tipi’s looking very special with the fairy lighting and special lighting effects on certain trees within the grounds, the guests were made to feel even more special by the Paparazzi being there to take photos – flashing, shouting and putting smiles on the guests’ faces. Armed with genuine 1950’s press camera yet actually taking digital pictures which are uploaded to a specially designed website within a few hours. The guests were very surprised and would have some lovely memories of the evening to keep.
The guests were shown into the rustic bar area of the tipis where they were served delicious canapes and Champagne with background music being played as well as watching the entertainers performing crystal ball juggling.
The client loved a certain recipe served at The Ivy and wanted the caterers to re-create the same dish. So, with catering tents set up and ovens brought on-site, the caterers created some outstanding food. Following the canapes, the guests were invited to take their seats where they enjoyed simple yet wonderful food with some rather nice wines.
Following the speeches, an Ice Cream tricycle was set up for dessert offering a variety of flavours and toppings. A great live band played which got so many people up dancing, the dance floor was overflowing with many requests flooding in. Even people who wouldn’t normally dance were strutting their stuff!
In between sets, a DJ with full lighting show played from a playlist selected by the client ranging from the 1970’s through to the latest tracks.
As the evening drew to an end and with security officers guiding guests to their taxis, a group of people sat on the occasional furniture around the log burner and chilled talking about what a fantastic party it had been.

Thank you so much for organising the most incredible party for my 50th Birthday. It really was A- MA –ZING!!! We have been inundated with messages of thanks – everything was utterly perfect. I know that behind the scenes you have both worked very hard in arranging such a memorable night and that your many years of experience helped make the event so special . It was also lovely to meet you both properly and spend some time in your company over Friday and Saturday. I hope it was as much fun for you as it was for me!
